The m3u playlist file is fantastic. It’s so simple, no fancy headers, no settings. None of that, just plain file pointers.
Wikipedia has more information about the construction details although they are pretty simple.
The mime-type, audio/x-mpegurl, is odd because it doesn’t state its own name, m3u, but instead is comprised of mpeg url.
